I know it's hard to believe, but I made it all the way up 14,000 feet to summit Bierstadt! And I didn't even cry once! Okay, maybe there was a single glistening tear, but I'll blame that on rock dust or blisters. As always, Curtis was horribly supportive and kept my spirits up. It was so gorgeous and totally worth the 7 hours up and down the mountain. But I have learned to hate is the phenomenon of false summits. You think you are almost to the top and then wait, there's another mile up! And then you make it up that mile and there's something even larger behind it. A mile is an exaggeration, but my little spirit was constantly breaking. My pain was felt by some younger boys who were climbing in front of us. One boy promised his friend if he said "false summit" one more time he would throw him off the mountain. Here here!

Bierstadt
1 year is creeping closer (this Sunday!) and to celebrate, Curtis is taking me on a hike to the top of a 14er! Bierstadt to be exact. I guess it's one of the easier 14er's in Colorado, but it's still pretty hard. So think of me fondly on Saturday when I'm gaining elevation and trying not to be crabby to my very, very, very patient husband. Two will go up the mountain and hopefully two will come down. Depends on how well one person takes the other person's complaining.

A visual representation of our relationship
And boy howdy, have I been crabby.
We are nearing our 1 year anniversary and Curtis is still as sweet and patient with me as ever.
Why, I will never understand, but try not to question it too much for fear he will come to his senses.
LOVE YOU, CURTIS!

Long Face Sketch
Oops. You can see the drawings come through from the other side. I'll get a hang of our scanner one day.
